Beach Day!!

Cavendish Beach

My escorts picked a beautiful day for going beach-hopping.  It was windy, rainy, and rather chilly for a July day.  The only good part of this choice is that none of the beaches were very busy.

We started at Cavendish Beach, one of the most popular beaches on the island.  I’m somewhat suspicious as to why - me thinks it’s more about location than being the best beach.  It is in the heart of tourist-land PEI after all (aka Anne-Land).   The parking lot was large and there were a decent amount of cars there, meaning there were quite a few people on the beach, even with the cold and damp.  All I could think was how crazy it must be on a hot sunny day!  Even with the low crowd, we never even touched the sand.  We took some pictures from the boardwalk and went in search of quiet.

Cousins Beach
(The sit in the distance is Robin)

About 20 minutes up the road we found Cousins Beach, which was perfect.  Still drizzly and windy, we were almost alone (could have something to do with it not having bathrooms, but that’s just a guess).  We set up the little beach shelter they got, threw stuff in it and went exploring.  Clare ended up enjoying the sound of the waves as she read a book in the shelter with me while Robin spent about 2 hours treasure hunting on the sand (it was at least a km of beach)!  We were all happy.

Cabot Beach

I guess the need for bathrooms finally won out and we headed off to beach number three, Cabot Beach.  Once again, it was a busier beach, and it was already 5 pm so we didn’t set up camp or anything.  We wandered the shoreline together for half an hour or so, decided it would be a great beach to make sand castles on and agreed to go back to do just that.

And that was it, beach day was over.  We did however, make a stop for dinner on the way back and tried some seafood options for the first time.  Robin liked scallops but wasn’t too fond of clams, but she did eat them.  Clare did not like either but said the fish and chips were amazing!  I tell you all of this so I can share the most food I’ve seen on what was supposed to be a “shared” plate!  This shared plate came on two plates!  What’s with that?  Needless to say they now have leftovers

Whatever!
